Holy Thursday April 21, 2011

Augustana and Grace Lutheran Church had a joint Maundy Thursday Service. The Dinner and Service was held at Grace Church. At 6:00 PM Rev. James Klockau made Agape Dinner which means love to celebrate this Holy Feast Day. During the Service, Rev. Rosalind Brathwaite washed the feet of members from both churches. Ms. Jayne Skoog, who is the organist and choir director of Augustana Lutheran Church chanted Psalm 22 while the altar was being stripped. The sacramental elements and vessels, linens, paraments, banners, and books are removed from the the worship space. Lights were dimmed as the altar  was being stripped. All members departed in silence.
